"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."
Missionary South America
A note from Jodie.....
To those who have known me through the chapters of my life, I am impressed to share that as I left for Cambodia my heart was overwhelmed. This particular trip was truly a mountain top, a break through and a dream fulfilled.
When I take a break to look back,
I see how far I have come.
Knowing in every step I never once walked alone.
Though there be scars and struggles,
I will always say, I never once walked alone.
He has been faithful to surround me with those who have breathed life into my soul,
They have been the wind beneath me and the strength when I was weak.
On every path and in every turn, He was with me.
This trip to Cambodia was like none other, not one aspect resembled past experiences, except for my beloved Cambodian family, [which has only grown larger!] From the time I embarked on the plane, I sensed I would never be the same. When you have to fight for something priceless, or hold on when it seems like there is nothing to grasp, when you have to wade through the
nay-sayers and the religious to behold the treasure...well you breath it in deep as you stand in awe.
A treasure through and through is Cambodia. they call it the Kingdom of Wonder. I will never forget the first time I saw this statement on my first visit to this nation.
Wonder for me, is a pre-requisite for living.
If I ever lose my wonder, I am certain I will have lost my way. The Kingdom of Wonder is a place like none other. A place where only 2% claim they hold the Christian faith. It seems when I am there, the mission is entirely to impossible, yet all one must do is spend a day with a national who possesses a deep faith and you are forever in love with this nation.
We were there during the dry, hot season. I feared on the first day of our first camp, the team would never be able to endure the long, steamy days ahead. Two entire youth camps later I never heard one complaint or disappointment, oh' me of little faith. While the teams were delivering a camp experience, which students would never forget; I was whisked away for the first time ever on a motor cycle to spend my days with pastors and leaders of churches and communities, in hopes of stirring their hearts for the young people of their nation.
In the evening hours two generations came together. The students who attended the youth camp and the leaders who were inspired to reach them.
What a living dream!
It was a perfect picture that only God could snap. The students were encouraged to see their community leaders present and the leaders were able to see the vivacious, passion in their youth. I could not have been more pleased.
Two teams joined together. One from Cambodia and one from Reach. Together they created a summer camp experience for both south and north Cambodia! We are grateful for the tireless efforts of our Cambodian counterparts, your desire to serve your nation is un-paralleled.
While plowing my heart into this nation,
I received another invitation...
A life long dream [kept to myself] has been offered to me. The nation of India has summoned me to come and teach in their colleges. To instruct their attendees on how to reach, equip and empower their students today. This nation is slated to become the youngest nation on the planet in just a few short years. My heart was spinning for weeks and is just now settling upon the fact that I will be given this honor. I covet your prayers and support as I begin to move forward in preparations for this next journey.
